![]() In the build-up to the release of The Social Network, a movie which saw Fincher team up with writer Aaron Sorkin to adapt Ben Mezrich's 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires about the founding of Facebook, the talk was all about how the only thing more boring than Facebook itself was the prospect of a movie about it. Now, though by no means is Alien 3 the worst Alien movie ( it's actually at Number 3 in our rankings), it was all uphill from here for Fincher. ![]() ![]() There are some good action beats here and some classic bits of Alien terror, but it was the first of many bum notes for that franchise. Sadly, alongside her on the escape pod, was an alien, which quickly begins hunting down the prisoners and guards. The movie's plot follows Weaver's Ripley, who, after escaping at the end of Aliens, crash lands on Fiorina 161, a bleak wasteland inhabited by former inmates of the planet's maximum security prison. In fact, the shoot was such a mess that star Sigourney Weaver, who had shaved her head for the film, and, having wrapped production, began to grow it back, was then told she would be required for reshoots and that she had to shave it again, something that she was reportedly paid $300,000 to do. The third instalment of Alien went through endless writers and actually began production without a finished script. In the end bought from currys, 630 with no extra warranty just could justify spending more.Fincher's movie debut was a real baptism of fire, as, to use a soccer term, he was given a hospital pass with Alien 3. ( Ok I,m proberly likely to end sending the money saved on something else but you never know ) ![]() 100hz thing seems to be one of those thing which some people notice and others not, I have friend with large screen LCD which to be flicker but they just don't notice My current sets a Sony D3000 this seems to at least match that PQ wise ( plus being bigger, full 1080p and better freeview off air via the resolution plus) sound, seems to ok for tv, but its given me a reason to upgrade to sep speakers and amp (even though I said I would go down that road again).įor me this tv a stop gap, I needed to by a new tv, my D3000 will be passed on,but the cost of the 42 " set is such that I can happy enjoy this set while I wait for new tech tp trickle through and in several years look to put the money saved for good OLED set, once they become more plentiful. It was rammed home to me years ago when I walked into a sony centre, all the sets had Pearl harbour playing but the D3000 was flicker free and the flicker on the other was really off puting. The zv has higher contrast ratio, 200hz, an anti glare screen, but was £200, and harder to get hold of ( not sure how much differnce 200 hz makes to me I can't see the diff between them and 100hz ) The RV without 100hz just wasn't a contender, the bigger the set the more I seem to notice the flicker. ![]() I've bee hanging on waiting for some professional reviews on the XV and ZV but none have turned up. I've faffed about buying a set for ages, as each contender came forwarded it was rejected, because it just didn't meet my needs. ![]()
